National Coaching Fellows

In the United States, only half of the 13 million children raised in poverty will graduate from high school and only 1 in 10 will graduate from college. In Chicago alone, nearly 200,000 children live in extreme poverty.

National Coaching Fellows, Incorporated, is a startup nonprofit organization devoted to closing the educational achievement gap through athletics.

Our mission is to recruit and train the nation’s most promising leaders to serve in high-needs schools as athletic coaches committed to the academic achievement, personal development, and athletic success of student-athletes.

National Coaching Fellows, the first national service corps of athletic coaches, addresses the underlying cause of educational inequity – the student motivation gap. Our corps members leverage the relationship between coach and player to motivate, guide, and support their students. Every day they work relentlessly to exceed the traditional expectations of athletic coaches by providing direct academic and personal support. Our corps members are committed to empowering students, thereby, enabling educators to close the academic achievement gap.

National Coaching Fellows is a nonprofit corporation with derivative IRS 501(c)(3) status based in Chicago, Illinois.
