First Annual Fellowship Ball Raises Needed Money for Children

Fellowship Ball 2009From the motivating words of guest speaker Wallace Goode to the prizes handed out to the fun conversations that were had, Fellowship Ball 2009 revealed itself as a great success.

On December 19th, supporters gathered to pay tribute to what National Coaching Fellows has become and where it is going. Nearly $1000 was raised for NCF programming and nine unique gifts were won, donated by businesses such as the Chicago Cubs, Third Degree Glass, and Moosejaw Clothing. Dinner was provided by Sit Down Cafe, desserts from Dominos Pizza, and many other fantastic treats from friends and supporters.

Fellowship Ball 2009, December 19th

National Coaching Fellows will hold its first annual Fellowship Ball on December 19th from 7-10pm. Fellowship Ball 2009 will be held at Logsdon 1909 art gallery and will include an open beer/wine bar, food from local restaurants and businesses, and a “bucket raffle” where guests will receive 5 tickets at the door and can use them to bid on wonderful prizes that will be raffled off at the end of the evening.

All money raised for the event will go towards programming for National Coaching Fellows.

Fall Fun: All Hallows Eve Eve

National Coaching Fellows will host a pre-Halloween party at Spoon Restaurant and Lounge on Thursday, October 29th from 8-10pm. Celebrating the new corps members and all they are accomplishing with Chicago student-athletes, guests are welcome to open Svedka, Miller Lite, and appetizers from 8-9pm, as well as games and information about NCF.

New Management Fellows Organize the Movement

In the Fall of 2009, National Coaching Fellows will see five new Management Fellows working tirelessly to further the mission of the organization. All joining NCF from the University of Chicago schools of business and law, they each will further the programming of the young organization in five core departments.

Ashutosh Sharma will bring his expertise to Recruitment and Selection, Ali Junkin is heading all Training and Professional Development, Glay Ge will lead Corps Member Support and Tracking, Shareese Pryor will be in charge of School Partnership and Placement, and Sean Kramer will lend his charm and energy to the Development and Alumni Relations of NCF operations.

All are graduate students with a wealth of knowledge and energy that will help National Coaching Fellows grow. With their leadership, NCF is sure to see positive changes in the new school year.

First Fundraiser a Success for NCF

On July 30th, 2009 National Coaching Fellows held its first fundraiser at Bar Louie’s in Hyde Park. NCF’s Summer Sizzle raised nearly $300 and joined Chicago residents in learning about the cause, what the organization has accomplished, and where it is going. Prizes were handed out, including dinner for two at Caffe Florian, gift certificates to Powell’s Bookstore, free sandwich coupons at Potbellies, and coupons to Homemade Pizza Co.

Thanks to all businesses for supporting National Coaching Fellows and thanks to all who came!

National Coaching Fellows will be holding another small get-together in the Fall and a Winter Gala. Stay tuned.
